Grandparent's Day

Mr. & Mrs. TerpstraEvery year we have a day when some of our most honoured guests take over the building ? the Grandparents. On that day the hallways have a noticeably different colour.

It is heart warming to see two generations, side by side, enjoying the day, sharing experiences, displaying talents and encouraging one another.

Between the lunch, refreshment times with coffee, tea and desserts, classroom visits with student work displayed and presentations of skits, music and readings, our guest leave with many wonderful impressions of the day.

Each of them will mark their calendar for the first Monday in May ? A day they don?t want to miss.

On the first Monday in May, Immanuel Christian School hosts it?s annual Grandparent Day. This is a highlight of the school year, seeing grand children and grand parents enjoy each others company and share experiences.

Those who don?t have grandchildren at Immanuel ?adopt? a grandchild for the day. It?s a day that no one wants to miss. The pictures speak for themselves.

If you miss Grandparent day, simply mark your calendar for the first Monday in May of the next year.

Grandparent Day May 4, 2009
Grandparent and Senior Friends Day is an opportunity to treat some very important guests like royalty. The students were excited to share that day with people who are near and dear to them. They guests visited in the classrooms and had an opportunity to do some activities together. The guests were served a wonderful lunch after which they were entertained by the whole student body. The entertainment, The Amazing Jerusalem Makeover, topped of the day.

Quotes from the grandparents:

?What a blessing to have my grandchildren in a Christian school.?

?I didn?t have this opportunity but I?m glad to see my grandchildren at Immanuel.?

?I see a difference between my grandchildren who attend Immanuel and the ones who are not in a Christian school. I think the parenting makes a difference too.?

?Thank you for the wonderful job the teachers are doing here.?

?The students did an awesome job with the musical.?

?I really enjoyed the musical. I could hear the speaking parts clearly.?

?I need to get used to the idea that I?m a grandparent. This is hard on me.?
