Christmas Celebration

On Wednesday evening the student body did a wonderful job of sharing the Christmas message with parents, siblings, grandparents and friends of Christian education. The activities, whether it was the primary choir, the intermediate choir, the liturgical dancers, the Junior Band, Senior Band or Jazz Band or the drama group, they all added a meaningful component to an evening of praise. Not to be missed were the kindergarten students dressed up in stable animal costumes as they sang Away in a Manger.

SAM (Special Activities Month)

When the students return from their Christmas Break they will have 4 Fridays of doing special activities in and around Durham Region. Students will be baking at the Loblaws Super Store, taking gymnastic lessons, rock climbing or taking art lessons. This is an opportunity for students to explore new areas of skills and interests.

Fair Glen

The students in grade 5 and 6 will kick off the new year with a 3 day overnight trip to Fair Glen. The students will benefit from a variety of outdoor educational experiences and learn about wildlife food chain, personal survival in the wild and other learning opportunities. The 3 day experience is intended to help them develop a greater appreciation for the world God has created and an opportunity to grow together from the experience.

Christmas Caroling  (Use this link to see pictures of students Caroling)

Students spent a morning caroling at the Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Services. This is the 20th year that Immanuel Christian School has been coming. The annual event was marked with the presentation of a plaque which is on display at the school.

Volunteers galore

The saying goes, "Many hands make light work.? For the Immanuel community it would be more apt to say, "Many hands make more heat.? Over the Christmas break many parents and some very capable grandparents put in many hours to repair and upgrade the schools heating system. The generous donation of materials and the willing help of many volunteers make this a real blessing all around. While some families volunteered their time assembling pipe, others prepared food to keep the workers fed.

Speech Festival

As soon as the students get back from the Christmas break the grade 5 ? 8 students will be working hard preparing for a speech festival. After the local speech festival, the students who come out as budding orators will represent Immanuel at the Regional Christian School Speech Festival at Knox Christian School in Bowmanville on February 25th.

Kindergarten Openhouse

At this time of the year we start looking at assembling a new class of kindergarten students. We offer a 3 day a week, full day core program on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We also offer Full time kindergarten. Look for open house announcements for the first week of February.
